A Phone Call to Your Younger Self

Journal Activity - June 30th, 2024

Last week the College World Series wrapped up in Omaha, NE. On Sunday before game 2 of the Championship Series, NCAA Baseball posted the Video linked below featuring some of the Texas A&M players pretending to make a phone call to their younger self. Give it a watch! It will guide your journal activity for this week.

Often times, as we get older, we forget why we started doing something in the first place. I’m sure each of these guys, at some point in the career, maybe multiple times, forgot why they started playing baseball in the first place. At times it probably felt like work as the JOY the game once brought them was buried under pressure, expectations, “the chase”, and more.

It is healthy to regularly stop and reflect on why you do what you have chosen to do. To touch base with that little version of you that started this journey in the first place.

JOURNAL ACTIVITY

Write a letter to your younger self. Take it any direction you choose. You can thank them, share stories of the journey with them, encourage them to stick through the hard times, share lessons learned through your sport/activity.

PASS IT ON!

If you have a teammate, friend, athlete, or young adult that you think would benefit from these journal activities, would you please pass this link on to them?

ARE YOU A COACH?

I would enjoy helping you think through how you can use these journal activities to be intentional about your investment in the mental game of your athletes! I’ve learned more about my athletes through reading their journals on a regular basis and that insight has helped me be a better coach for them. Just reply to this email and lets set up a time to talk!
