A Time to Question

Journal Activity - June 1, 2025

The first Sunday in June. For most of our readers, especially those participating in a fall sport, your team will probably start meeting this week if they didn’t start meeting last week. This is a time when a foundation is laid for the physical demands of the sports you participate in.

Just like we mentioned last week, now is also the right time to reflect and continue to build a mental foundation for what your sport & team will demand of you next school year. So, let’s spend a little time in reflection on how you can grow your MENTAL GAME!

“Successful people ask better questions, and as a result, they get better answers.”

Tony Robbins - Personal & Business Coach

I have often the quote above to be very true in my life. My biggest growth has usually followed a time when I started asking better questions. So, I’m going to help you ask yourself some better questions and the answers to these questions should lead to where you focus growing your MENTAL GAME!

JOURNAL ACTIVITY

Each of these questions could stand alone as a journal activity. I would recommend making this a week long activity. Take one question per day. Read it in the morning. Think about it throughout the day. Write your answer towards the end of your day.

  1. Typically, how close am I to the best version of myself when times are tough?

  2. What does it take to break me?

  3. How do I respond to mistakes or “failures”?

  4. Am I willing to deal with the results regardless of the outcome?

  5. How do I tend to handle distractions? Both in practice and competition?
